- Best Poster Runner-up Award Our poster titled "The Impact of Dynamic Learning on Adversarial Attacks in Networks" has
been awarded the best poster runner-up award at the 2023 IEEE Conference on Communications and Network Security (CNS),
co-authored with my Ph.D student Mohamed El Shehaby.

- Best Paper Award Our paper titled "Proactive and Dynamic Slice Allocation in Sliced 5G Core Networks" has been awarded the best paper at the 2020 IEEE International Symposium on Networks, Computers and Communications (ISNCC 2020) Conference, October 2020, co-authored with my Ph.D student Danish Sattar. Our paper is the best among 184 accepted papers.

July 2018 I have had an excellent experience during my sabbatical that just ended. I spent most of it working as a System Analyst with TELUS COMMUNICATIONS in the Technology Strategy Group. I worked on large-scale network management analytics. I created proof-of-concept log processing modules and worked closely with a large implementation and network operation team to test the suitability of unsupervised machine learning for large-scale log analytics.

July 2011: I finished my first sabbatical at the end of June.
It was a very good experience.
I was fortunate enough to gain world class research experience at two places.
The first experience was spending part of my sabbatical working as a senior
research and consultant at
Cloakware Advanced Research Centre (CARC)
of Irdeto.
We co-authored a paper on
cloud computing security.
The second was collaborating with
Prof. Hossam Hassanein
at his TRLab at Queen's University
on problems related
to peer-to-peer applications in new networking paradigms.
