Dr. Jaisie Sin

Assistant Professor

Jaisie Sin is an Assistant Professor at the School of Information Technology at Carleton University. Her research focuses on the inclusive design of emerging technology such as conversational and voice user interfaces and virtual reality. She aims to reduce barriers to technology access and adoption and prevent design-based marginalization of underrepresented users such as older adults. Her previous projects have investigated older adults’ perceptions of smart speakers, the role of technology on social well-being, how voice interaction can be used in virtual reality, and the co-design of virtual reality with older adults. She has published at conferences such as CHI, CUI, and MobileHCI, and journals such as the Journal of Human-Computer Interaction.

Dr. Sin received her PhD in Information from the University of Toronto in 2024. At the University of Toronto, she also obtained a Masters of Information (User Experience Design) from the Faculty of Information (iSchool) and an Hons. BSc (Computer Science & Neuroscience) from the Faculty of Arts and Science.
